I am a late-comer to some of television's worst programming. There is something so very fun about watching really kitchy shows like "7th Heaven" and "Charmed" - neither of which were available to me until our recent satellite update.
I started watching both programs but quickly became bored, and frankly, a bit nauseated, by 7th Heaven. Oy, don't get me started. I do watch the reruns of "Charmed" however, not because the storylines are riveting, but out of sheer wonder. For example, I wonder how much the wardrobe people must despise the actresses who play the three main characters. Look, I'm no fashion expert, but some of the get-ups that the wardrobe department puts on these girls make me wonder if the girls lost a poker game and are paying for it in costuming.
Of course, being a latecomer to these two shows which have aired since Jesus was a boy, I have had to do some catching up. Helpful in this regard is Television Without Pity, which has brilliantly funny recaps of all your favourite programs. Do yourself a favour and read the recap of the (apparently) final episode of 7th Heaven. I laughed myself silly.
What I have discovered is that I'm only now watching Season 4 of the Charmed ones, and they have completed 8 seasons now. So I wonder -- do the outfits get any better? Does Alyssa Milano earn enough money to buy a bra? Could that new girl's lipstick be any redder?
These girls should perhaps consult their famous Book of Shadows for some advice on What Not To Wear. Ah, but I have an even better solution than Stacey and Clinton. Clearly what the three Charmed ones need is their own witchy version of Peacebang -- the Revered One who intones to us clergy-types the Wisdom of our own Book of Shadows, Blushes and Lip Colour.
In our ministerial Book of Shadows, the girls would discover that there is no appropriate use for the shadows of The-Colour-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named-Never-Mind-Worn (hint: it is the colour of the sky). There is so much to be learned, so much wisdom to gain. Charmed girls, orb on over to Peacebang. Please. Now.

Nothing to add about these posts (If it's not HGTV, feggitaboudit or whatever that word is).
BUT wanted to say just how much I love your blog because you are so cool. And when I'm stressed out, nothing de-stresses me like doing something that sounds really horrible, like cleaning out the fridge or sorting through all of Eli's 8 million tiny toys and throwing a way the broken ones.
How are you headaches? I'm having bad luck with my current meds - sleep too much, still have migraines - so I'm going back to diet and acupuncture. Curious to know if the alternative route is working for you....
J68- Thanks for asking. I'm on my second week with beta blockers. The other migraine meds (the ones you see advertised with happy migraine-free people dancing around in their happy migraine-free lives) are counterindicated with my depression meds. My only real pharmaceutical choice then is the beta blocker, which I hadn't read a lot of good "reviews" about (ie not too many success stories).
They made me a bit sleepy at first, but really, I've been tired since I was born, so who noticed?
The good news -- I think they're working! I've had two really bad migraines since I started the meds, which is a considerable improvement over the frequency I was having before.
I've also stayed away from all the classic migraine triggers that I've recently given up. The dietary trigger that seemed to effect me the most was wheat gluten. I'm still off of that in a serious way. I just feel better in general.
I hope the diet and acupuncture starts to work for you soon.
The only reason I know anything about contemporary, grown-ups TV is that my sister comes to visit us occassionaly and makes me watch stuff.
Hey anyone that reads Peace Bangs is a friend of mine. I think a lot of tv characters could use Peace Bangs Beauty Tips for Ministers, especially the ones they are showing kids these days.
I got to check out your link
I'm a closet TWOP reader. I love it!
